  • Tire wobble

I just bought my 92 Kat600 about 2 weeks ago. It seems to get rear tire wobble over like 80ish and it gets bad when I lean into corners at high speed. I'm new to bike's as far as working on them and solving problems. Ill be looking on the forums for similar issues. I'm sure 99% of everyone on here knows my problem haha, so any help would be great!

Ah newb mistake I should have done some more reading. It seems like the rear axle adjustment may be off!! Time to go measure =)

Could be a cupped tire, or perhaps the rear tire is slightly crooked, have you checked the alignment?

Check the front tire for cupping and proper inflation on both.

        What tires?
90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.

I just went outside to inspect, and according to the swing arm alignment marks, it is aligned.

Those marks are not really correct. The most accurate way I've checked alignment is measuring from the axle to the swingarm pivot point on both sides.

Get the rear tire in the air and spin it. Check for a bent rim. It will wobble if bent, if not then grab it and shake it side to side to see if you have a bad wheel bearing.

wheel looked straight while spinning, also the bearing is good i checked that too. Im going down to get new tires this week, Battlax 160/60/17 rear and 120/60/17 front. I'll be having the shop install them so hopefully they'll straighten out my wheel when they get it back on. =D

If your having performance issues, do yourself 2 favors...

                      1. Avoid those battleaxes. Get Pilot power 2ct, or conti road attacks for sport ride, or mich road 2 (or 3s) for longer lasting tires that are still pretty sporty touring.

                      2. Don't go above a 150 on width for a pre 3.5" rim. 150/70 and 120/70 would be the best combo. Larger than 150 will mushroom the tire... giving a flatish center and then suddent change in edge profile, and you will never get the last 1" of the tire edge on the ground.

Find a nice post rim, an inch gain, and it is a direct swap.
