  • Is 15/47 or 14/45 stock on a pre 600?

I see the 15/47 listed as stock by motorcycleanchor.com and 14/45 listed elsewhere. Which of these is the stock gearing on a pre? I ordered a 15/50 from mopowersports thinking I was going up 3 in the rear but they called and said that going with a 14/48 would be going up 3.

Can someone sort me out please?

I know stock on my pre 96 750 is 15/47 which is a 3.13 Ratio
14/45 would be 3.21 a little lower then stock and
15/50 would be 3.33 even lower. if you could find a 14/50 that would be
3.57. hope this helps, I'm pretty happy with the stock not real fast off the line but very comfortable on the highway.

14/45 was stock on some of the pre 600

most prefer the 15/47 gearing, less vibrations and longer lasting chain/sprockets.
      the post 750 is 15/45

I thought the front stock was 15...

What about someone who uses there bike for commuting or touring with lots of freeway miles? I'm thinking of raising my ratio(lowering rear sprocket teeth count) as I ride a lot of freeway miles. You said "less vibration" Wouldn't this be partially resolved by easier throttle input and shifting at a higher rpm. I understand the engine is under more load with this change so there is gonna be consequences but if I did those things would it limit it?

        Maybe I should try 15/45?

there have already been threads about this, suzki wasnt extremely consistent everywhere on the pre's on both the sprockets and the engine, pre 600 are usually eithe 14/45 or 15/47 with most people preferring the 15/47 configuration as previously posted.
im not sure but I believe generally the 750s are geared with 15/45

My bike was 15/45 when i got it (pre 600) the previous owner told me that he had changed the gearing for commuting. nothing much happens below 7k, and it really only starts top go at 9k. Think the boy said that it was geared for about 143mph as a 15/45. I bought a 14t front but after reading these posts i might keep it on the shelf and go 15/47 or 48
