  • Front sprocket

I was cleaning my kat, getting the old gunk from the front sprocket and noticed some (side to side) play in it. Should this play be there and how much??

I tried the search and found nothing.....

Is the play on the sprocket/shaft, or is it just the whole shaft? Play is not good for either, but play in the shaft would be worse. Is the retaining nut still tight?

The Sprocket itself seems to be the problem, like its missing a washer? its not a large amount of play, but I can wiggle it side to side. The nut is tight.

I know the pre's have some rubber"coated" shims and a very little play is normal for those, but I don't see those in the fiches for the post600.

Could it possibly be the wrong nut on there? I know the nut is recessed on the back side so that it can fully grip the sprocket.

            Just because they sound the same doesn't mean they are: there≠their≠they're; to≠too≠two; its≠it's; your≠you're; know≠no; brake≠break

I'll find out soon, due to having to take everything off of my frame to get a new frame...

The 98+ models ship from the factory with 'em, but they're not listed in the 98+ fiche for some reason (Malloc & I almost scratched our skulls raw trying to find a fiche file for any year 98-06 that had 'em and never succeeded).

                Cheers,
