  • Steering damper?

Has anybody put a steering damper on their Katana?
I just did a search and came up with zero.
    Thanks.

No, because they are not needed on a Kat. If a kat needa a steering damper then there is something wrong with the bike.

Im not sure what the need for one would be anywho. Ive never thought the steering was "off" on a Katana. A bit heavy feel if anything.

I know you are planning to use it on the track, but you aren't likely to encounter tank slap on the katana. The steering damper came into being because of short wheel base and sharp rake.

That said I know some folks HAVE fit them for aesthetics.

You can even see this post from Tmod where he also agrees they are pointless on the katana: http://katriders.com/vb/showpost.php...66&postcount=7

I've seen some videos of a race bike tank slapping, kinda ugly.
Saw it once in a MotoGP race back in the 90s, that was a fast vibration but it cleared after 1 sec. thanks

If you end up making any changes to steering geometry... dropping the forks or raising the tail... then it might be worth looking into.

I hit a pot hole (recessed man hole cover) one night and encountered a need for one. Luckily I was only traveling at about 35 mph or else it would have been nasty. I expect a stone on the track could also be a dangerous situation. I've seen a dude wipe out a brand new $40K Erik Buell Racing RS 1190 at about 35mph on a hair pin turn because of track debris. Just saying its not impossible.
