Hmmm from the images I see on Ebay of a 88 GSXR750 shock I wouldn't think it would be any better than stock. But to answer your question I don't see why it wouldn't fit with the exception being the center to center length, If it is too long then you end up have issues with springs hitting and ride height issues.
Get a center to center distance between the mounts and let us know what they are. The stock pre kat is 300mm if I remember correctly.

the 88-91 gsxr is 312mm
but curious, if the gsx600 pre has a rear shock that's 300 the 05 on R6 is also 300 so the conversion should leave the rear of the bike at the same height as stock,i'd take a guess that the gsx600 has a shock length similar or the same as a gsf600 bandit, at 319mm,if so, a 2001-2003 gsxr600 2000-2003 gsxr750 shock is 325mm, has anyone tried fitting one of these with any success???

searching for some upgrades for my mates 94 gsx6, i had a 90gsx6 for a few years and when i changed it for a new 96 cbr6 i was quite emotional, i loved it, i wish it had been as easy to find all the info back then,it's going to be a fun time bringing his bike up to date
