  • HELP!!! about Bolt Ons for looks

I would like to get some swing arm sliders for my bike. If none are out there that will work, possible fabricate some. I also want to know if someone can tell me where I can get that little rear fender that goes on after you have eliminated the stock rear fender and relocated your tag and signals. The little one the bolts just above the tire and is countours around it. And finally wanted to know if it is feasible to replace the stock grips with these chrome one I found on ebay, but dont look compatible with my bar end weights/sliders. I was thinking about having the end cap, cut off to allow the weights to still be srewed back on, but then I would need a spacer in the to taper the dropoff. Can anyone get the picture or/and offer any help. Thanks!

The replacment fander that you are looking for is called a hugger. If you do a search for huggers I am sure that you will find some sources for them and s few pics.

Thanks, I never knew exactly what they were called. I appreciate the tip. Do you know anything about or just have a plain out opinion about the hand grip situation I am in right now?

the hand grips look uncomfy for long trips and you will probbly have to modify your thottle tube and remove those endcaps

the grips look good but are they for a sport bike or are they made for a cruser. You want something that is comfortable and good looking at once my friend has a let that look that those on his V-Star.

Actually, I believe these will be comfortable. They are called he Iso Grip. They are suppossed to be better as far as contouring for the fingers and inbetween. They are made by Kuryakyn. So lets say I go with them, how hard do you think it would be to cut the end off and modify my inner tube?

Oh and about the tire hugger. I looked everywhere for about 45 minutes straight..about 13 websites. I can't find a tire hugger for a Katana only GSXRs. Any pointers here. I saw someone who had one on their bike in another topic forum, but can't remember who. I am going to try and find it again.

I found the swingarm sliders. Actually they are called swingarm spools. But again, same problem...can't find em for the Katana.

spools will NOT fit the Kat...they only go on bikes with mounting bosses on the swingarm.

Supersport bikes have them (they are actually NOT sliders), but are LIFTING points for rear axle stands, because these bikes, which have aluminum swingarms, not steel like the Kat, do not have a centerstand.

They are called "spooles" because they resemble a spoole of thread.

Thanks, I did find out that they were not "sliders", but was still a little uncertain as to what they actually "do". So now I know. That is 1 of 3 problems solved.

Can you help with the other 2? Looking for a hugger for Katana and trying to figure these grips out.

                Thanks

my opinion...pass on the grips....seriously (they DO look good though)
check out Spyder grips...lots of colours, and they work (little tip...replace the stock 600 bar ends for heavier 750 units if the bars buzz too much)

as for the hugger....Spedee has a Carbon Fiber unit....doubles as a chainguard....check out Spedees bike...it is the nicest looking one out there.

Haggy had a unit that was from Brazil (can not think of the name) but it was a nice piece.
...the Metisse unit is considered flimsy, but it is available too.

Actually...for any mod, Spedee has most of the links added to his own site....click his profile!

The Metisse link is for the Metisse Undertail. duh!

The hugger in my opinion made by Freestlyecorp and only sold on EBay from Brazil is the best.

Lately I've been having problems finding access, links, or contact info for the Freestyle Corp. huggers and undertails......I've sent them multiple emails and such, but nobody will reply.

I bought my hugger and undertail from Artfibras.com.br, and it looks wicked so far! I havn't had a chance to mount the undertail yet, but both peices are very nicely crafted fiberglass, painted in the stock '03 black with blue flake. They also offer carbon, if you'd rather have that than the fiberglass.

Another option that SEEMS to be available, but I can't find any pics for is the Ermax undertail and hugger. They're listed over at www.picotteperformance.com, and are made from ABS instead of fiberglass, but I don't know anything more about 'em.

They're probably still recovering from Carnival... give it a couple days past Easter Sunday and email 'em again.

I really am interested one getting a hugger ASAP, so I can have it painted with the rest of the bike. But I woould prefer one out there that is not achain guard/hugger all in one, since I paid a little bit extra for my chrome chain guard just 2 months ago. I guess I should have thought this idea up before then, but I really didn't think about huggers until I saw it on someone elses bike in the forum. I believe it was Spedee's.
