  • Cycle gear - Heat Out base layer

Okay, so I have been searching for comfortable base layer stuff for a while. I've tried several different things including some of the Starter stuff from Walmart, and Asics compression running pants. I thought I'd give these a whirl

    Link: http://www.cyclegear.com/eng/product...hns/web1010129

First off let me say, that in my opinion before I get anywhere else, that these pants flat out suck at any price. Why's that you ask? Well I'll tell you, the stitching tore before I even had one leg through them.

Overall for comfort, they are okay. Supposed to be a compression fit but apparently you need to put them on like a pair of kid gloves or something. I've never owned any other compression clothing that ripped when trying to put it on. Riding on the bike? Feel okay. Thin waistband means if you have short legs like me there's not too much material bunched up at the waist. The cooling effect is comfortable. I wore these under a pair of Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants with the vent flaps off.

Don't buy. Not worth the money at any price. Maybe if they address quality control I'd give them a B-.

For the record, I give the Starter stuff a C+ the fit is too loose, and the Asics compression pants an A-.

Hit Jason at ex210 at STG and get him to send you a Psycleskin one piece base layer suit and you will be a very happy camper. Best money i ever spent on hot weather gear.

I found that the Under Armour compression-fit heat gear works great. Although it is pricier...It didn't rip until I skidded down the road after hitting the deer last fall.

I have tried several different things like yourself. Got some reebok compression heat gear that does the trick. I never really liked the starter stuff. The seams just don't feel right.

I do alot of snowboarding and skiing so I have tried alot of base layer clothing. Wallyworld brands suck(they just dont last and comfort is not there) I tried Costco brands same issue. I use underarmuor and bauer a little more evpensive but worth the $ comfortable and they last.

They were new so I figured I'd try them. Don't buy.

I have had underarmor stuff fail just like the cheap stuff. Surprisingly (or maybe not) Adidas and Nike Pro Combat stuff has lasted me longer than any of the others, but the price is still up there with underarmor.

I have the same cycle gear compression shirt, it works pretty well, nice and comfortable while riding, although the cut is very odd.
It's more of a 3/4 sleeve than a short sleeve and has a HUGE open neck/collar.
It was on sale, and like you, I was curious. Time will only tell how the seams will hold up.
Maybe you can try to return/exchange the pants, CG is usually pretty good with customer satisfaction.

Steve, I'm going to throw this out. I've been on a search for this too but at a little cheaper price point.

I'm not sure if you heard about this company...it's a regular clothing line but their heat gear technology is the lightest/thinnest that I've seen and I heard great reviews on them. Not really compression but if you get the long johns a size smaller it might be the same effect.

My second choice would be military gear....ECWS....it's thin, flexible, and might work. I usually used the old polypros when I go riding but it's not that comfy but it's warm as heck. The newer ones have the DriFit tech, which pulls the sweat away like the others.

I'm also looking for hot weather type to wear under my leathers.

LDComfort, retarded expensive, but definitely worth it. I have the shorts and the tights. Don't like the tights as much as the shorts, either they're too long, or I'm too short (or too fat), and they are a PITA to put on, especially when getting out of the shower and having feet that a little bit damp, it just catches on the inner fabric. But love the LS shirt and shorts. Soak em down, outside stays wet for evaporative cooling, inside stays dry for comfort.

I have the cycle gear heat out long sleeve shirt and pants. Used them both for the first time this weekend in the Texas heat and I loved them!! They do fit really tight / small is all.... But it kept me vey cool. Never gonna ride without. Gotta be careful getting them on / off though.... They are delicate.
