This makes me wanna get a 1100 and do some real touring. How much of a different ride are they from Pre-98 600/750's? Entirely different bike?
Having rode both pre/post Katana 600/750's, I can assure you, it's a completely different animal. This bike definitely shows how long in the teeth it is regarding suspension, and overall ride characteristics. Since I have no intetest in modding this bike, it'll remain as-is. The 600/750's feel more nimble, as they are lighter. This bike is big and heavy, and it takes a second to trust the weight vs. power characteristic of the bike. My '07 GSX-750R would eat this bike easily. Not sure about my CBR600 though. Overall, everything works as it should, so I'm very pleased with the purchase, and plan to use it accordingly. I'd love to find a Krasuser trunk for it on the cheap.

That is one clean looking bike, but you are right in your evaluation of the performance. They are heavy and therefore do not handle as well as the 600/750.
