  • New Member with a New Bike!

    Hello fellow Katriders,

My name is Chris Ho, in Portland, Oregon.

I have been on the hunt for an upgrade from my 79' Yamaha XS1100 Special, and have been lurking around this forum for the last two weeks gathering as much info on Katanas as possible. After losing one bike to another buyer, I found and purchased a beautiful 91 Kat down in Eugene, Oregon.

She is all completely stock, never crashed, has just under 26,000 miles on the clock, and I got her for $2000. I think I did pretty well with my purchase, though I have to do some work on her before she's in tiptop shape.

The fork seals are worthless, and so I have already put in an order for some Racetech springs + news seals. I also need to replace all the brake pads, do some carb tuning, and I noticed that the idle adjustment screw seems to have no effect right now. I am suspecting that the cable for this is broken, so if anyone knows how I might find a replacement, I would be very grateful.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself to all of you here. I'm sure I will probably be asking some questions in the future.

    -Chris

Yayyyy !! another 1100 owner - welcome to KR

The idle adjuster knob is linked to the carbs by a rubber tube believe it or not... they tend to slip or let go altogether, you'll need to glue it at one or both ends and then lube all the mechanism to make it as free moving as possible.

Good luck with your new ride, Engelskmannen.

Thanks, Engelskmannen. I'll have to take a look at that when I get a chance to start working on the bike.
