A little bit of an update, Kreylyn I took your advice and finally purchased a new chain and sprockets. I went with an RK 530XSOZ1 chain with a 15t sunstar front sprocket and 47 JT rear sprocket. All said and done I got everything for just under $125 with shipping. Feel like I got some pretty good deals thanks to winter patience.

Next project is to clean and sync the carbs. Anyone have any recommendations on a strong cleaner? Ive heard some people using pinesol which seems strange to me but im willing to do whatever works on a tight budget.

A can of Berryman's B-12 Chemtool/Chemdip will cost you around $20 at Walmart. It's like a paint can and perfect for dipping the carbs. Suggest also getting Berryman's Chemtool/CarbCleaner and a can of compressed air if you lack an air compressor. Follow Carbs 101.
