Hi All!
I have been stalking Katrider for while since I acquired my 1992 Kat 600.
This my first sport bike and I am having a good time with it.
I have been an avid rider since I was a kid and actually moved to the high desert to be closer to the areas where I like to dirt bike which is my real passion. That being said, it's fun riding the Katana on the open road compared to my dual sports and cruiser, the Kat hauls *** and is really smooth. Once I decided to keep the bike I did the ususal and fixed it up. New Michelin Pilot Road 3's, slimmer blinkers, Dyno-Jet jet kit, pulled a ton of smog crap off, synchronized the carbs, taller windscreen, LSL raised bar kit, new x-ring chain and sprockets 14/42, carbon/kevlar brake pads and the usual maintenance for a new acqusition. Since the roads here are wide open I raised the gearing and installed the tall bars which really made the bike better suited to my needs and riding area.
The LSL Bars are a lot like dirt bike bars which suits me fine and really improved the riding position. By the way Jimmy from Mopower was a big help with the LSL Bar kit. LSL actually goofed and sent me a kit for a 750, so while speaking with Jimmy he told me that the 750 top tripple clamp would fit my bike and have rubber mounts. That was all I needed to hear so I hit eBay and picked up a complete tripple tree for cheap, rubber mounts and all. The conversion kit was complete with a new braided stainless front brake line. It would have been nice if they would have included a longer clutch cable or all of the cables so that the routing could remain the same as stock. As it is the cables run outside of the forks which seems to be fine. I have posted some photos in my Garage. I look forward to many fun miles riding the KAT! Great group guys! Regards, Nels
