well lets see, i am a 1st time motorcycle rider, i picked up my 1st bike which is a 2001 kat 750, and i luv it, i am a tall guy so i fit comfortably on it. i will be putting up some pics of it soon, im really happy and proud of my bike, yes it has been laid down, but a good frame, runs strong, and a clean title for $600.00 you cant beat that. it will be naked for a while, but a lot of custom mods will be coming soon(visual). it has been jetted, it also has a M4 carbon fiber exhaust which sounds really mean! the one thing i am needed some assistance of though is my speedo, i am about to try to put the mph and rpm gauges from a 88-97 style kat and was wondering if i were to just splice the wires would they work? any help would be greatly apprciated. thanks all!

Welcome! To put a pre-speedo on a post you'll need the speedo pickup from a pre (goes on the left side of the front wheel, on the axle). Since you've got a 98-02 bike your front wheel already has the lugs to drive the pickup.
