  • New Guy From Illinois

Hey guys i recently acquired my first bike to tinker with over the winter. picked it up for 400 bucks. i cant seem to get it running right now. its a 1992 gsxf600. needs the plastics and some TLC. I thought I would join to gain knowledge from you guys and get some help with getting this thing to start. I cant wait to start riding next spring.

    thanks,
    Jake!

      welcome

Sounds like you got a project ahead of ya. I would start with the basic: oil change, brake fluid flush, spark plug change, etc. I guess the first would be to see if you can get it running without having to drop alot of moola $$$. Good Luck...

Yup this is my first bike. The petcott leaks bad. So I need to get a rebuild kit for it. I pulled off the k&n filters and put a rag over the carbs and it started up and rancor like a minute or two until it ran out of gas since the tank is not on. So I'm pretty happy that I got to hear it run. I will be changing plugs, oil, and brake flush over the weekend.

Thanks guys for all the welcomes. I was wondering what bolt you take out to remove drain the oil is it te one under the exhaust header or the Allen bolt on the left side if your looking at it from the front. I've tried searching but haven't really found a definitive answer. And where you guys get your oil. There aren't really any bike shops around here just a walmart and autozone.

I'm not sure about the bolt question you have cause I know its a little different compared to the one I have. I get my oil from cyclegear.com or motosport.com They both have good prices and shipping is pretty fast.
