Hi and welcome to the group!
Perhaps its not primed?
Turn the fuel lever to pri and wait a bit for the float bowls to fill, full choke and then try.
Just a thought.http://katriders.com/vb/showthread.php?t=110816

When I got my Kat, it had been sitting in a garage for 15 years. I used starter fluid and spayed it into the air cleaner. It fired up, and stayed running..although rough. At that point I knew I needed to clean/rebuild carbs.

defiantly prime the carbs(if it doesnt say on the fairings than turn it so the arrow is pointed forward. pointed down is the regular gas flow and back is reserve) but other than that its all hat i can think oftime to nut up or shut up

Whether you ride a harley or sport bike. If you have money to go buy a bike then be smart and buy the gear. Whether its 50 degrees or a 100 degress its ATGATT for me.... But that is just my opinion.
