  • Got a Freebie!!

Hi all, I joined up here so I could learn a little more about the bike that kind of fell into my lap. Long story short, I just got a 97 Katana 600 for FREE last night!!!!

I'm from central Nebraska, and I ride a 2000 Honda CBR600F4 right now, and am hoping to get the g/f going on the Katana. I'm mainly a diesel truck guy, I'm a vendor on a duramax forum, and I own and drive an 07 dmax as well, so I'm not new to forums.

    About the bike...
Clean title, some road rash, no key and doesn't run But it did run really rough for a bit last summer. They owner just never had time to get it running right, I'm pretty sure it just needs tuned up more or less, and some fresh gas to run.

Hopefully next week I'll be able to find a locksmith who can make me a key, then tear into it.

Here's the only pic I have of it, from when I took my beater truck to go pick it up. (the bed on the dmax is too tall lol)

Hope to find some good tips and advice here, I'm sure I'll be around!!

    -Jesse

Free is always great in my eyes. I think you might be able to purchase an ignition set which might be cheaper than the locksmith.

Thanks for the welcome guys!! I'm pretty excited to start tearing into things and getting it up and running. I'm sure I'll be picking your brains quite a bit. I really haven't had to do anything to my Honda, other than the basics like brake pads, chain and sproket, and a couple other little things so I'm still pretty green at working on bikes, but luckily I'm not green to turning wrenches, so my fingers are crossed!!
