    New Kat Rider

    Hi,

    Just bought a 95' 750GSX Katana. I've owned many different bikes, mostly cruisers. This is a great bike! Just one question, can anyone tell me what the markings on the fuel petcock mean? I've run for an extended time on each which makes me wonder if mine works. Res must mean Resiorve, Pri means Primary? What about On? None of them seems to shut off the gas flow, I believe "On" must mean "Off"???

    OK... You ride as normal in "ON". Then when you are near empty and the motor starts to lag and stutter, switch it to "RES" (Reserve), and get to a gas station ASAP. If you don't make it to fuel up and run it dry out of gas, then after you refuel, turn it to "PRI" (Prime), for ONLY a few seconds with the motor OFF... Then switch back to "ON" to Start the engine as normal. Riding for a short time in "PRI" will foul something up for sure. You might want that checked. Riding in "ON or "RES" is fine for the engine... "PRI is definately NOT.

                      Welcome. Like JaxKat said, On or Res (reserve) is okay when riding. PRI (prime) sends fuel to the carbs ALL THE TIME whether the bike is running or not.
