    Greetings-

This web site is great. I got my '05 katana about a month ago. it's my first bike. It runs great under 7K rpm then it starts to cut out. it only has 2700 miles on it so i'm thinking the fuel filter or the carb is gunked up. I have followed the instructions in the manual to remove the gas tank but I cannot lift the back end (seat side) up.. are there other screws or bolts that I can't see? I've removed the bracket at the base but it still does not lift up.

    thanks!

Welcome to KR! I believe there two bolts under the seat like the pre-98 kats, but I'm not entirely sure.

          1st welcome to KR
2nd there is no bracket to take off. There are only 2 bolts that hold the tank down the the bracket the holds the air filter box. The bracket does NOT need to be removed. After removing these bolts, pull the tank back towards the battery (there is a lip at the front of the tank that you need to slide out). It is really easy to do. Don't forget that there is fuel lines connected so you can't move the tank too far without disconnecting them.
