Hey, Clod, i'm a totally new rider. New to the motorcycle world, that is. I just bought my very first bike, also the very first bike i've EVER ridden. A '98 Kat 600, so far, i've only put 200+ miles, but i love it. This Kat is stable, powerful enough to keep me from falling behind in heavy traffic, and comfortable enough to ride for a couple hours before taking a break. I'm still getting used to the whole riding thing, so my azz is a little sore
I've been told that a 600 is too much for a "learner's bike", but i disagree. This motorcycle has helped me learn to ride efficiently, quickly, and most of all SAFELY!!! I'd gladly suggest one of these for a first bike to anyone able to hold it up....

welcome, my kat is my first bike and i absolutely love it. went on a ride a couple months ago with my unit's mentorship program, on the way back around 45 minutes out, a lot of sport bike guys were complaining about being sore or what not. me, not so much. i was loving it. it is a great bike. whatever you decided, i hope it brings you as much fun as mine has to me.R.I.P. Marc- You will be missed!
