  • AME Heated Grips

I got about 10 months out of my previous Koso heated grips (throttle side died an early death)

I replaced 'em with a set of AME Heated Grips and installation was a snap.

The AME grips have the temperature control built into each grip so that the temperature can be adjusted seperately.

I wired my grips into the same switchable power source (power for fan required on the California bikes) as my old grips.

The AME grips are a simple installation and have straight forward wiring.

Cycle Gear has their brand on sale for $30, regularly $60.

A couple of speed humps with installation though:

Getting the throttle side on and close enough to not have a huge gap required some filing/cutting of the plastic ridges at the proximal and distally.

It seems they are longer than the stock grips though, and you probably ought not just chop off the excess since we want the heaters inside to actually work.

The bar ends won't go on without significantly touching the grips, making your throttle grip stick. Longer screws and spacers are in order...a trip to the hardware store!

I personally dont like this style. Id rather have a central on/off switch and not one incorporated into the grip. I also dont really like the grip itself, id rather be able to install any grip I choose over a heating unit. I havnt yet experimented with any of these so its merely opinion based on what I want and see.

                        Your welcome.

Did you wire directly to the battery?

I wired into the stock heated grip connector. If my bike had not been prewired for heated grips I would have tapped a switched source.
