New shocks

Can anyone recommend a good set of shocks for 82 1100 Kat?
I have the stock ones , original suzi shocks , and I'm betting they might be a bit tired. $900 ohlins are out as well.
The bike rides very firm right now, gonna play with the fork adjust and see what happens, am afraid to play with shocks for fear they might give up the ghost on me.

Mojoe in another thread you mentioned rebuider for 88 on shocks, do they do old 82 types as well?Might be a possibility?

Try Works Performance.
Not as expensive as ohlins, but still not cheap.
