Steering/fork lock

My new to me 82 1100 kat,I just noticed, has a fork lock on the frame neck. Does not seem to have any on the ignition switch, is that normal?

Seeing as I don't have a key for the neck lock, anyone have any experience with removing or replacing them?

I'd like to be able to lock the steering when away.

I have my triples out and it look s like you can just use a punch and pop it out through the neck but you will have to have you triples out. At least, this is what i think.

Does it work??Anyone? looks about impossible to get to with forks turned.
