  • Sprocket Cover Won't Come Off

I have a thread about this in the tires and chains forum but I don't think that has as many viewers as here.

A couple guys were giving me suggestions but my question is....when the cover comes off, the splined shaft that actually changes the gears stays and the cover slides over it. Does the rear shaft that the foot shifter rides on stay as part of the cover when the cover is removed?

All the 6 bolts are out so that isn't an issue. I've finally gotten the cover to wiggle a slight amount and it appears the splined shaft isn't the problem holding up the cover. The foot shift shaft doesn't want to budge and I don't want to break anything.

    Got the cover off, Yay.

The more grime and buildup inside, the harder to remove they become in my experience. If you use a wax based lube it kind of acts like a weak glue.
