Before, subframe, stock, bike mostly stripped:
Here is the bike actually cut, right behind the tank mounts, right at the seam in the frame on the lower rail where the bolts go into the rear sets- I will be putting on modern rear sets:
After, 01 R1 Seat and tail section sitting after cut, just mocked up, will now need to completely brace the old tank bracket into a much stronger unit, and triangulate the place I cut back to the frame, then weld on tabs to mount bottom part of R1 subframe.
Here is the missing metal"
So far, parts difference in wieght is over 35 pounds! The plastic is much lighter, the frame is much lighter, the battery boxes are much lighter. I have less than 4 pounds of metal to add back to frame even in the equation.
I will edit this thread with one more photo in a minute, showing how much different the bike looks like without stock subframe.
