  • Someone stole my Katana

Walked out on the front porch and the Katana was gone. My wife always joked, no one is going to steal it she would say. Now there is just an oil spot where it used to sit.
Stolen in San Antonio. Flat black. 1992. Usual condition for a bike of this year.

Give us some pics, vin/other numbers and any tell-tale markings/bits about your bike. Often times bike thieves have a system by which they will part out CL in other areas. I will keep an eye on Ebay and Craigslist for the entire MO area with better info.

              Thanks. Here's some info.
1992. Flat black. Black rims. New turn signals. New tires.
4 into 1 header. Not sure of the muffler.
              VIN JS1GN72A7N2105008
              Plate number is 3KL307
I can't find a recent picture but I'm looking for one.
              Thanks for the help

All OEM-spec or any custom bits? (Even windscreen or other such things count here)

Any marks on the fairings or frame/internals that are distinct?

Nothing distinctive about it. Next time I'll keep it in the garage, but I'll have plenty of pictures just in case.
Cops called me. They asked if my bike was still missing. I said yes. They said they would keep it on their active list. I was hoping they were calling to say they found it in a ditch.

I found a 750 on craigslist. Dude was asking $450. Someone beat me to it.
I'm searching on craigslist for a 600 or 750 project Katana. I'd like to have another Katana now that I think I have them figured out.

A bandit is a striped katana, well mechanically of course. Think I might get one for myself.

It amazes me some of the deals you guys find. It seems out here in Colorado they think they are worth more. Even the crap ones people want over a grand for.

My neighbor has a video camera. He loaned me the DVR so I could look through it. I caught the thief at 11:35pm on a Saturday night.

No. I got complacent after 6 years of parking it in the same place. It was in bad shape. Then it got better and better. I painted the rims, polished the rim lip, new tires, new turn signals and mirror. People stopped asking if it was for sale. I walked by it thinking, damn, the Kat is looking good. That should have been a clue to buy a big lock.

I'm thinking about making my own version of the motorcycle anchor. Big hunk of metal plate with concrete anchors. A bar would go through the front wheel and be secured with a lock within a pipe that you could not cut off.

My next bike is going to be parked in the garage.
