The book value on the Gix is $5k. The buy it now price is low enough that I'd have some concern over what's wrong with it.-Steve

What's wrong with it is that it was slammed pretty hard. Probably tumbled some.
From the ad:
Bike needs a mid tail fairing w brake light t strip, a right side fairing, PREP/POP DENT OUT TANK/ PAINT THE FAIRING. Powder coat or paint the rear sets and passenger pegs. New grips and 1 bar end. Low beam bulb. Mirrors if you use them.
Looking at the photos, the fairing is held together with zip ties and there's damage all over that bike. This wasn't just a low-side slide down the ditch. Heck, they even broke off one side of the key!

The Kat is a good deal - you could buy it with the expectation that it will be used for parts but try to get it running. You may find you have a well running bike for $500.
The gixxer I would want to see in person and take it on a test drive to see if it tracks straight. If it does, it would be a good long term project bike at that price. You could probably fix some of the plastics and look for deals on used plastics for the rest. If it runs well and the frame and front end is straight, I may be worth it.sigpic Mulholland Hwy Ride

Of course shipping either of them from Florida to Philly would take care of any savings...

Well the Kat is sold and the other seller did not want to meet in person when I go to pick up the horse trailer in Orlando.
I don't want to be a dick and make a lot of threads so I will just tag this comment along here... I got caught in a bad rainstorm tonight and my tachometer went nuts. Right now it is redlining at idle. I went and soaked up any moisture and I have the mini heat lamp on to hopefully dry things out.
