"Pretty much" is an over statement. "Completely" would be a better description.-Steve

The idea is that in some states you must have rearview mirrors...therefore you remove the stockers and replace with cool looking (yet useless) pig spotters. The name is ironic in that you can't use them to spot pigs but have them in case the pigs spot you. Pigs = cops...or so I hear.

LOL the OEM mirrors do an excellent job. The mirrors on my Ducati are useless. I have to pull my arms in to see what is behind me.Currently in the driveway:
02 Ducati 748 Monoposto: Yellow & White
99 Suzuki Katana 600: Red (Sold to brother but holding at the house)

From what I've heard, I would tend to agree with everyone else here. Pig spotters are useless, including the newer version, the pig spotter II.
I agree that the stock mirrors are hideous, so I also wanted to put something different on. I got these off of eBay for very cheap, and I have to say they work pretty well, they are slightly smaller than the stock mirrors, but they still provide a really good rear view, and they also pivot out of the way like the stock mirrors do.
Best part is they go on the katana with no modification at all. You just use the stock bolts and you're good to go
