  • check yer bolt ons and sliders periodically...

was riding along today, and felt something hit my, leg and foot... I looked down and my slide was GONE.

traffic was too heavy to stop and try and look for it, so when i got home, i expected to see that it had loosened up and fallen off... nope...

the bolt failed along the threads, it appears to be a bolt that was overly hardened then not annealed during the MFG process, as you can see the bolt end loctited still in the slider bracket.

clearly not an impact related issue, as the bolt failed on a downward break on the threads...bike would have to fall upside down for that to happen

I sent a PM to Braunstein to see if he'll replace it...if not, i'll have to buy one.

but, just a reminder check things for tightness, and give a tug on stuff periodically, see if everything is OK...

yeah, I let it down on the left side, not "dumped".. theres not even a mark on the left slider or bar end from it... was sorta a "ohhhhhhcrappppppppppp" and I lowered it down gently.

but, that was the LEFT side, this is the right side.

One of mine was backed out about a quarter inch when I inspected/washed the bike last week.

thanks for getting back to me Matt.

its definitely weird, the bolt broke off at a downward angle, you can see the fracture followed the threads...Steves looked at it also the other day, he also says it looks crystallized.

looks to me like the bolt wasn;t properly annealed after treating, and left overhard.

Looks like ya may just have gotten a bad bolt..or I did
