Protection is sometimes about making your stuff less attractive to the casual thief. Of course if they REALLY want it, they'll come prepared with bolt cutters...

A wise man once told me: "Locks are made for honest people. If they want in bad enough, they'll get in." The same applies here. If it looks like too much hassle, the smart thief will move along to an easier target. It's all about putting more obstacles in his way so he say's "**** it!" and moves on.
