If we ever get electric going we're going to get raped by the electric company then, but at least it will be cleaner.

Bear in mind that the majority of electricity produced in the US comes from the burning of fossil fuels, so it may be cleaner coming out of the tailpipe, but you still have coal-fired power plants putting massive amounts of pollution into the air.

What we really need are cleaner vehicles and cleaner power plants at the same time.
