  • Handlebar idea

I was thinking that raising my bars a bit would make a big difference for me.

I though that I could get a set of bars with about a 1-2" rise, cut the centre section out and make two sections to replace the 2 straight sections of handlebar already on the bike. Get it?

    Anyone try this?

Why not just get some of these from http://www.scrmotorcycles.com/katanaproducts.html

Katana 600 Handle Bar Risers 98-07 Risers

      These will raise your handle
      bars about one inch.
      6061-T6 aluminum.
      Tumbled to give them a
      clean finish that could
      easily be polished, new
      load rated fasteners (nut
and bolt). Will not fit 750.

if you have a 600, you can also just get a 750 riser off ebay, and swap everything, raise everything about 1.5" or so.

I get it. I think it would make the bars to long unless you got some of the z style bars, used on chopper and such some thing like these and cut them down. But in the long run the bar risers others are are probably a much better idea.

That is a great idea. I have heard good things about those.

Z-bars are cool but too tall for what I want to do.

I can get a set of bars for $30.00 vs $95.00 risers!

I'd use proper end plugs, bar-end weights, a maybe see about running the wires through the bars.

the problem would be the curve. They don't go straight up and straight over, they curve gradually up and over. You'd probably end up with a 14" bar on either side!

Here are a couple of ideas floating on ebay. There not as tidy as buying purpose kit for the Katana but it would be a cheapish solution

I just took an old set of Suzuki bars. Everything fit just fine. One bar. Put on some risers and bolted everything down. Took all of twenty minutes to do and it looks snazzy and gives me a little higher bars that are a little wider as well. I'll have to see if I can get some pics up.
