Those are my scratches lol! They were on the bike when I got it, painting the fairings in a couple weeks and adding frame sliders, then another set of stickers from shifty!!!02 Katana 600 R.I.P

Dropped the lower fairings, pulled the 4 - 2 exhaust off, pulled the rear side fairings off, and yanked the old swingarm out. Installed new wider swingarm, mounted up the GSXR wheel, bent out the rear passenger foot pegs, and cut 4 link out of the old chain to mock up and test the setup.
Should have the Vance and Hines 4-1 exhuast I painted earlier this week installed tomorrow, and probably start looking at chopping/cutting/changing the tail over to the 600 style. Might have it out of the shop ready to ride by tomorrow eve.

Kreylyn do you have a worklog?
I got my front fender ordered and my right main fairing. Off to tear her apart in the morning.

The streets have been wet all week long, and will be until the middle of next week here in San Diego County. I'm just not used to dealing with wet streets and temps in the 50's. Tomorrow, I'll grab the service manual, put the Kat on the centerstand, and reroute a few misrouted hoses. If the rain continues for another week, maybe I'll work up the energy and courage to deal with my last remaining maintenance task and change the fork oil.

I brought mine to the track to get used to the new clutch. Man, it launches like a completely different bike! I only got 4 passes in, none of which were good.
First pass, I launched at 5K, and bogged pretty bad 1.839 60'...ran a 12.45 @ 105.54
Second pass I launched at 6K, still bogged, but when it got into the powerband, it broke the rear tire loose. (Track sucked) When I heard the RPM's go up from the tire spinning, I shifted (OOPs), so 2nd gear bogged. Had a 1.819 60' Ran 12.67 @ 105.05
Third pass I launched at 6500, and slipped the clutch longer...too long. Only had a 1.846 60' and ran 12.42 @ 106.38 My normal 60' times are in the mid-1.7's.
Last pass I launched at 8K, but immediately spun bad. Had a 2.395 60' Ran 13.28 @ 105.77
The bike definitely shifts a lot better, and really hope to break the 11's after I relearn the launch. I think the clutch and the advancer helped...I'm normally 104-105mph when running 12.40's and my fastest mph was 106.38 You can watch this video and see that it made a difference. I ran a 12.25 @ 106.71.
Some Katana's see track duty. Some owners have multiple bikes. This is the place to chat about track days.
We had no wind last night, either.02 Katana 600 (weekend toy) 11.892 @ 111.92 MPH

Hey Jim, what PSI are you running at the track?? Just curious for a baseline standpoint for when I take mine to Norwalk this summer.....
I have found with the new swingarm, I can dump the clutch pretty much any RPM I want over 6k and it breaks the rear end loose and gets all kinds of sideways (street psi of 36 lbs). With it being stretched, the rear end coming out is much more controllable now, so I have been riding it out just so I can get used to it.
