  • Starting>?

My kat has this problem of not wanting to start after it site from 10-40 min while still warm. The starter keeps cranking and soon after you can smell the engine is flooded. All I usually do is hook up some jumper cables and it starts right up. What is this problem, as I would like to fix it if possible as its such a pain.
    Thanks, Chris

Are you choking it? Does she normally start just fine when cold?

      i found

I found that when I switched to high octain my bike starts way better when hot
I had to slightly twist throttle when running 87 octain on hot starts

Mid grade fuel seems to be working well also

if you are slow cranking right from the start you may want to concider new battery , but check conections are good and clean

yea it starts amazing when cold, or after sits for coupld hours to where it cools down, just after i'm running it and take a break it does this, periodically and usually if it starts its really delayed, i tried running higher octane right now i have been running mid grade and have had no better results. I was wondering if it was battery, but wasnt sure

how are your spark plugs also
some guys claim that if you flood a plug it is garbage
make sure you check gap if you are replacing

unfortunatly bike batteries dont usually have as long a life as a car battery

Do you have to take off the fairings to get at the spark plugs

I've changed my plugs by just removing the tank.
