  • fuel tank shield

    my 1100 does not have the fuel tank shield on the bottom of the tank, should i be concerned?

    Are you talking about the insulation pad on the bottom of the tank?
    I think it's missing on my old tank,didn't notice any difference when I put the other tank on with the pad.I'm sure it's there to keep the gas from getting too hot on really warm day's especially when sitting in traffic not moving much.

        I'd go out to the garage to look at it but there's 30" + fresh snow on the ground now,snow drifts up to my waist.Might have to wait a few day's or maybe till march

          Mine didn't have the heat shield either. I used some sound/heat felt with silver mylar on one side. It can be bought at auto parts stores. Probably called sound deadening.

          It helped quite a bit with the heat. No longer a crotch cooker in summer.
