Few electric odds and ends

I bought a 1988 Kat 1100 about 2 months ago. With the help of some people off this board and a set of carbs somebody on here was selling it now runs great. Blast to ride.
Got some light problems. Turn signals don't work and the brake light works backwards. When I step on the break it gets dimmer. I did a search and I know I need to check the turn signal relay. But I wondered if the brake light problem could be related?

No. The turn signals and brake lights are complete different circuits. Swap the positive (hot) wires going to that light. Someone wired it back in wrong.
