  • Oil consumption

My '88 GSX1100F uses more oil than I would like. It doesn't seem to burning it and there are no leaks. I have noticed that the drain hose from the air box is dripping a little oil. I'm wondering if oil is being sucked into the air box from the cylinder head cover breather pipe.

Is this a common thing? Do other Katanas use oil?

Mine doesn't. How many miles? What kind of oil are you using? My bike only uses (burns) oil when it is hot.

The bike has about 58,000 Km (36,000 miles) on it.

I typically use Castrol Magnatec (10w 40 grade oil).

And I guess what you say rings true. The oil consumption is usually when I am commuting in traffic. I can ride all day on an open road and use nothing but a week of riding to and from work will use may a quarter of a litre (abour a quarter of a quart).

that isn't too bad. I used to go through a quart in one day of riding with my 92. however, it had well over 200k kms on it
I don't have a short temper. I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.
