52 is stock. I installed a 54 on mine, while dropping one tooth in the front. if you want to see huge, you should see the 56 tooth that I have.

it dwarfs the 40 somethings you see on the 600 and 750's

Thanks, guys. 52 still seems big, I just checked the stock on my Bandit 1200 is "only" 48!

What with the Kat having more power and a bigger rear sprocket, but the Bandit being lighter, it will be interesting to see how they compare. I am planning a weekend ride with a friend, one of us on the Bandit, other on the Kat, and swapping off from time to time. Did a similar ride with my son last summer, with the B12 and a 99 Kat 750- the Bandit won the comparo, but it was close, all things considered.

down 1 in front and up 2 in rear, what kind of performance gain did you see? I have always gone that route with my old kawasaki's and it did make a big difference.
          1988 is 15:52 stock

don't know what the gain is. never had a chance to try it. I swapped the sprockets for 14:54, but also decided to install my 4:1 Yosh at the same time. The header bolts had NEVER been out of the bike and were siezed solid. it took me a good 5 hours to get 6 of them out.....and the other two snapped off. both on the same pipe. so I have to pull my engine, and pull the head from it and take it to a machine shop. so I have no idea what the sprocket change is like. I will know next spring after I spend the winter fixing my shit.

but if I was to take a guess......jet kit + 4:1 Yosh + 14:54 sprockets + dyna2000 ignition = mega torque and front wheel easy to get in the air.

                sprokets

I use my 1100F mainly for 2up touring. I found that the original 15/52 was too low geared, I was always looking for a 6th gear to change into. I fitted RF900 sprockets, which are 15/43. It is now superb for general touring, pulling about 3700 rpm @ 100kph, far more relaxed that before.

From 52 to 43- big change. I am thinking of going a Bandit 48, if it will fit, but I can't imagine that big of a change. Each unto his own.

I also went with a smaller rear sprocket (47 teeth I think, it's been a long while) to lower the RPM at highway speed. Kept the front one stock. It's time for replacement now so I have to go count the number to be sure. I'm pretty sure I used one off a GSXR1100 the last time I replaced the rear one.

                    Cheers!
