Keep trying, it's a 500lb bike, she is not going to do it for you.
    Just think about this ....
If you are having trouble getting her on the center stand, just imagine how hard it will be to get her off the ground if she ever goes over.

Take your time and learn how to do it.
I am 145 lbs and can do it on my 750, both centerstand and on the downside.
You just have to get used to it. I'm also 145lbs and the bike practically stands itself up for me now.

    • Nice to see so many people have had success.

For those who have yet to have any luck, remember THIS Mantra....the bike will NEVER fall over as long as you are pushing down the lever and BOTH pads are making simultaneous contact.

      • Right- that was probably the scariest part, trusting that the bike wasn't going to plop over while pulling it up.

            • WAhoo!

I have been struggling with this issue for months now and have read this thread on several different occasions and have had no luck, and have watched the youtube videos and still couldn't accomplish it. I always have to have just a little help with getting her up on the stand. Hubby does it for me, or helps me by just lifting up ever so slightly on the rear grab bar while I am doing everything else.

But finally, I did it. Yesterday I got her on the centerstand all by myself. The key was grabbing her by the passanger peg and maybe having only 1/2 tank of gas instead of my usual full tank. But at least this weekling of a woman finally put the Kat in her place!

Now to see if I can repeat it with a full tank of gas!
sigpic Like usual, It's all my husband's fault... After insisting that his woman should try out his yellow Kat, I just had to get my own Kat! I really should quit listening to his brillant ideas.

              • any tips for placing a functional center stand on a pre kat 600 with a D&D after market exhaust setup.

I want a center stand without the expense of returning the bike to a stock exhaust setup.

                Maybe a better question is:

Would anyone in the Sacramento area like to upgrade to the aftermarket D&D slip-on/louder aftermarket exhaust pipe?? Maybe trade me evens and throw in your center stand which may be of no use to you after you put on the D&D pipes???

                Thanks in advance.

                • Center Stand!!!

Using the center stand takes some confidence and force. It'll lift up on it, but it gets easier with repetition.
Car please stop wasting my time and use your blinker!

                    • I just got my center stand on a few days ago, and once I figured out how easy it was I feel like and idiot when I was doing it the wrong way (pushing on the grab bar).

                      • My bike jumps up on the center stand with one toe.... Probaly easier because it doesnt have an engine.
