Between $250 and $350 here in MD. The MVA is cheapest, but it has a long line. I didn't like the course too much. If you know how to control your bike, you should be able to pass with a 600. When i went to take the test, my air pressure was really low and i failed (around 20 psi for both). Here, we just have a u-turn in 24ft, a right turn from stop, obsticle avoidance, and cone weave. Pretty basic and easy. In the course, i had to ride some Yamaha 250 cruiser. I couldn't find the pegs most of the time. It was just one day (6-8 hrs) for the alt. course.

Ca, 150 if ur under 21 250 if your over 21. If ur under 21 you are required to take it.
