I was wondering if it's advisable to blip the throttle a little just before shutting the engine off? I understand it's a good idea on carbureted cars, as it leaves some fuel in the carb and makes the next startup a little easier. Never knew if there was much truth to that anyway, and whether or not it would apply to a bike?

You don't need to do that, just turn her off.

I think that is an urban myth. I have heard people say it sends a little more oil to the top end, but I know of no proof of either the oil or the carb idea.
How 'bout I suggest it to MythBusters?"Stevie B" Boudreaux

i do it to look cool sometimes... and i do it when i drive one of the older deisel trucks when i make runs for a weekend company, it helps the engine not shake so much as it shuts down (smoother) and i know for a fact on the older F-450's (the one i drive sometimes is rough anyways) that it can make startup a little easier for them... as far as gasoline goes thats a different ballgame .... and i did get to drive something cool though i did drive one of the new TOPKICKS that is produced by GM... awesome rideCurrently Riding:

I'd be afraid that even if it did let gas somehow magically pool up in the carbs, that it would evaporate and leave more deposits to gum up my carbs with.
Still, if you really think about it, where is this gas gonna actually "pool" up at!?
just turn it off.
