At riding at normal speeds what is the best RPM to keep it in. i redline at 11,000rpms and i try to ride in 5,000rpms.....

It depends totally on what you doing at the time.

On the highway I cruise at 130-140km/h in 6th, that's 81-87Mph. Around town in traffic I will rev higher so I've got the power if I need to zip out of a situation in a hurry if need be.

i heard that it is bad for a bike to be driven like a car (riding at 3-5000 rpms all the time) is there any truth to that

It all depends.

3 is a little bogging in high revving bikes.....but not for a thumper.

Personally, I wouldn't cruise at 3K on our Katanas....usualy 4.5 - 5.5 for me.

Good question "BigBody45", I was also concerned about wearing out my engine. So, I'm gathering that keeping the RPM's up won't hurt engine life. I just bought my '05 and don't want to be buying another one any time soon. Also, what kind of milage can we expect to get out of these bikes until an overhaul?
