  • Video editing software?

    Hello KR!

I just purchased a Drift HD camera and I am very new to photo and video editing. I would really appreciate some input to an easy to use(dumby proof) video editing software program. Just a little background of my computer skils, I can transfer pics and vids to the computer and put them on to a disc, as far as editing I'm a total noob.

Thank you in advance for your input.

Hmmm dummy proof, huh? Well, you can probably Google free video editing software (you'll need to make sure it can handle .mov files) and it will do some basic cuts, fades, and some cheesy effects and should be pretty easy to use. You may not be satisfied with that after too long.

Personally, I use Newtek's SpeedEdit2 or Sony Vegas Pro, both are quite capable of producing professional results but they also cost $$.

I find SpeedEdit2 the easiest to use of the two. I used SpeedEdit2 to edit the video in this thread: http://katriders.com/vb/showthread.php?t=128575

I'm using Sony Vegas. It's worth the money, and comes with a free trial for 30 days.

We've been using a program called AVS at work. It's only like $70.
It's all good! It's goody good!

I use Sony Vegas too. Decent prog with good results.
Although,it might be overwhelming if you're new to video editing and if you want to start out with something simpeler you might want to try Adobe Premiere or Pinnacle Studio.

I was about to say Adobe After Effects or iMovie, but then I saw where it needed to be more on the simplistic side, so I am no help

The interactive help with vegas is the bomb though. I like the "How do I..." feature.

most of them have free trials. I've went threw all my free trials so now if i need to edit a video i have to buy a program

out of these programs I've used cyberlink, Sony, adobe, AVS, and pinnacle. (all free trials) and liked both cyberlink and Sony Vegas. both had similar setups but slightly different features. and cyberlink is the cheapest too

personally id go back to Vegas if i ever found the cash but if not id settle just fine with cyberlink
if all else fails......... Get a hammer

Thank you for your help. I ended up going with Sony Vegas. Very good product, between the interactive help and the instructional dvd it is the bomb.

Once the lake here freezes over a bit more I will use the helmet attachment and see what I can get on the snow machine
