  • Finally got paint done

Got the paint done on my wife's '06 kat. It was flat black when we got it but she wanted something different. We came up with a few different designs but finally used her helmet and came up with a design she liked.
    Here it is before:

Thanks. I done the design on the sides first then put the side up to the tank to get it up on it. Had to alter it forward slightly so her tank bra wouldn't cover the design up.

Its got some clear on it but I want more so I can buff that thing to shine like glass and to better cover the lines and make them smooth.

Is that a relocated rear brake arm? Or is that stock on the posts?

I've not moved it so I assume its stock.

mostly with a paint gun using lacquer paint and clear.

The way I done this one was just drew out several designs as they came to me then just picked out the one I liked best. Since you already know what colors you want that will help in the design. It took a couple of days on the design, had to make a few tweeks to a couple of places on the plastic but the actual painting took about a week to complete because of the design. masking each section was the most time consuming.

I'll have to get some pics of it. i used the design on the hlemet as a guide and adapted it to the shape of the bike and followed the lines of the bike.

Stock location on posts is lower side of the arm. Looks stock to me from the little detail I can see of the pic ( it was to show off the paint, not the arm afterall.. )

Speaking of, great job... looks nice. I agree though, a little more clear will go a long way.
