  • Latest Project

Here are some pics of my latest project. Special thanks to rexazz2 for helping with the dimensions of the logo although the ones shipped were a different size - fortunately larger. I probably should have ordered the stickers from the same year as what his bike was. Bad assumption on my part. Anyway... Let me know what you think of my creative endeavour.

--I forgot to mention that I haven't peeled and applied the stickers yet in these photos. That is why they are off-center a little.

Not sure.. I spent hours trying to polish those things. I thought I was going to go crazy, and you can still see some grooves in them when you look carefully. Overall they look good, just not pure mirror finish.

Each side is made up of two pieces. The first piece fits over the hex/nut at the top of the forks. A set screw secures this piece to the side of this nut. A second piece (the one visible in the pictures) attaches to the first piece (mentioned above) also with a side set screw. The reason two pieces are necessary is that I wanted the Suzuki logos to sit straight up and down. If I relied on attaching the assembly to the nut, I would be limited to 6 angles, none of which would probably be straight up and down. Now with the second/top piece, I can rotate the logo until it is orientated properly and then tighten it in place. Before spring comes around I will use a little "blue" loctite to help stop the set screws from backing out due to vibrations.

In case I want to adjust the front forks, I can choose to just detach the top cover and use a screwdriver through a hole in the bottom piece, or remove the bottom piece (top piece will come along).

I'll have to give aluminum a try and see how shiny I can get it. My concern was needing something to seal the surface finish since aluminum likes to oxidize quickly. Even a set out of black ABS or delrin would be a visual improvement - but yes, these are from 303 stainless

I was just thinking that this might be a way for pre's to integrate a clock, assuming the tops of their forks are similar. Imagine the right fork cap being high enough to accomodate a waterproof battery operated clock behind it. Dunno...

Just came across these -- kind of steals my thunder

                    or better yet:

I know you can probably get something for like $5 at walmart, but these have a little style to them.
