  • How NOT to get good footage at the Gap...

The girl and I went over to the Gap in her 2005 Mazda 3 Hatch. Got some good footage from many angles until this....

Bad news is the lens on the waterproof enclosure is scratched. Good news is it's removable so the camera can still be used.

The better news is, I contacted GoPro and while they don't yet sell the wide angle case, they offered to send me one out no charge! YAY! Great product and great product support! Great little cameras! Great customer service.

Now if I can only pay closer attention when mounting it.

    Edited video to come.

No. It didn't fall off. The suction cup mount is very strong. It just pushed it backward and cut it off. That's why the video ends abruptly.

I was going to ask if you used a RAM mount or the Bogen Magic Arm to attach the camera to your vehicle, but you already answered that question.

it seemed really close to the ground... maybe just the lens... I assume it's not mounted lower than the lowest part of the body of the car... Cause I was thinking that you had hit a dip in the road and bumped your camera...

Ah well, glad to hear that they're taking care of you... and can't wait to see more vids...

I bought a GoPro Wide angle but still haven't tried mine yet. I should hook it up in the car for now to try it out.

In my experience with the Hero WIDE, it is well-suited to the unusual angles. It works well for the standard angles but it "straightens the road." The curves will seem much less sharp. I think if the bulk of what you shoot is a tank or dash cam, you will want the standard angle. If you want the crazy angles, go with the WIDE. I will probably end up with both. I like them that much.

That was a great angle to shoot some vids, nice score on the new lens.
