  • 1958.8 miles later...

trip got off perfect, weather was 70ish, and sunny with no clouds. i was riding my 06 Kat 750, my brother in law was on a 92 CBR 600.

we hit small amounts of rain in utah, but other than that great trip.

day 1, just got the kat loaded and tire pressure checked

first stop in the town of emery about an hr from Price. Had an apple and some drink.

still at emery, my bother in law has ordered new fairings for his bike, but they didn't show in time for the trip.

this was in Salina canyon, very pretty so many yellows, oranges and reds from the fall turn.

this was taken at sunset in the canyon between St George and Nevada. I think its the tip of Arizona. very nice.

    DAY 2
this is the view from our room in Mesquite (sp?)

we stopped in Jean just on the other side of Vegas for some electrolites.

this is in Baker, think it was 90. not that hot yet.

this is in Cali, on hwy 79 i think. was over the pass TDL told me to go on, was an awesome ride on the bikes, some road construction but they were putting down new blacktop so it was fun.

after hwy 79 we got into San Clemente (sp?) we stopped for gas and the guy in the store was behind bullet proof glass(bad sign?). so we left very fast south into oceanside.

    DAY 3
we made it no problems to Jacumba. this was taken on day three, we headed are to the beach now.

these are pics of old hwy 80, very twistie

at the beach, lots of beautifull ladies, wow. water was about 55 and cold. we swam for about 30 mins and got out when the big waves started on us.

got a cool pic of this woman's tatt.

saw these bees on this flower and had to snap a pic, was neat.

saw a stone aligator in the grass was cool

didn't get alot of pics on the way back, but i did get some. i was ont eh bike on the way back and my bro in law was driving the moving truck for my Gma. she is moving back to utah so that was the main reason for the trip.

but was a good trip alot of fun, i bro did get a nail in his back tire, but after 2 mins with the tire plug kit, was back and as good as new.

the hottest part was San Bernandido (sp?) bet it was over 100 when we hit there and man it really drained our energy.

but a nice dip in the ocean was great.

                NICE RIDE!!!
You hit the Lookout! Big bike hangout. Ortega's pretty nice.
You got lucky coming through Baker at only 90º. How the heck did you manage that??!!
Sounds like a fantastic ride. Glad you made it safely.

the saddle bags really cut into my gas milage. On the way down i got about 30 mpg and on the way back with the bags off, i got about 40 mpg.

i was impressed with the kat, it did very well for my first long trip. I also have learned i can go about 300-350 miles with the stock seat before it gets too uncomfertable.

i would like to look into getting a new corbin seat. And I think i know what bike i am going to upgrade to for sure. I will be getting a Honda VFR. same riding position, but a little better. Wider seat and hard bags. Plus alot better gas milage. About 30-50% better then the Kat it seems.

It doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you ride.

it was 9 am on Tuesday haha. San Bernandido was terrible, by far the hottests. when we hit the coast, was a breath of fresh air.

thanks for the advice for the ride TDR.
