  • muskoka road 13

This weekend I had an opportunity to get out on the road with my wife for a bit of a ride in the muskoka's. Although she is a new rider she is doing great. We took a ride on Muskoka road 13. This was her first real twisty road and we took it easy (the previous day, I took the same route and got the speed out of my system ) . For those of you that don't know it, it is a twisty road with a lot of small elevation changes. It is a fun road, but you need to be cautious of sand and gravel, as athere are many dirt roads that branch off of it. Also there are a lot of bad repair jobs to be wary of.

Here are some pics of my sister's property that we stayed at:

This is my wife, at a stop along the way. This place is called the Torrence barrens. It is a conservation area that was established to preserve the Dark Sky. Sounds weird, but it is actually pretty cool. there is something like 5000 acres that they have prohibited any type of permanent lighting (i.e streetlights)

This weekend was the first time that I had been on muskoka road 13, but I can assure you that it will not be my last.

Great pictures! Looks like some nice roads too. Glad you all had fun
It doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you ride.

Looks like fun. I am going to have to remember that road. What area of the Muskoka's is that in?

If you are around the Washago to Gravenhurst area I recommend Doe Lake Road. Lot's of fun!

I will have to check out Doe lake road. Funny thing too, Muskoka rd 13 pretty much runs from Washago to gravenhurst.

If you take hwy 11 out of Washago and head north you will see the signs for rd 13. i think it is 2 or 3 exits north of where 169 dumps you onto 11. My sisters property is in the Severn Bridge area.

Other side of 11. Take it to Housey Rapids Road and then to Coopers Falls road in Washago. It makes for a very nice run much like what you described just more of the same sort of fun = great riding roads. Sand is present in just a few spots (bad in the spring) but the roads are nice.
