what did u use to get the black off the original rims

i used MEK or methyl ethyl ketone. and scotch brite pads. oh and of course lots of elbow grease. the best part is scrubbing off the paint with the scotch brite is actually sanding the metal. then i used 1000 and then 2000 sand paper. then mothers to polish out to mirror shine. bought diamond clear coat out of eastwood magazine and clear coated the entire rims once done. made even the black shiny.
