Socks, we all wear them but don’t really talk about them. If you search them here you get all kinds of threads from Kreylyn going swimming with a Hog to Mojoe attempting to convince the guys of the benefits to a half a pill of Viagra.

I was with the wife shopping for gear the other day and she wore flip flops so she had to borrow a sock from the bucket under the bench to try boots on. She used ones made by http://techsox.com/mc/motorcycle.htm and has been talking about how comfortable they were. I looked into them and they are kind of pricey, $21.95 a pair for the tall ones. Then I started thinking that I will Pay ~$20 for an Under Armour shirt to stay cool and be dry why would I not spend money on socks to keep my feet dry as well. I have read the reviews on them and have not seen anything negative. Does anyone use these?

I haven't used those socks before, I make my own. But...

I know from experience that you never even realize the full value of a good pair of socks until you actually wear a good pair of socks. And $22 is a bargain for a good pair of socks. I have folks pay me up to $100-$150 for custom spun and/or knit socks.

Personally, I'm not a fan of "man-made" fibers in general, and specifically not for my feet. However, there are some great microfiber blends that are supposed to provide great odor and moisture control. I don't see how you could go wrong for the price.
Get over yourself. For me to think you are an idiot, I would first need to think of you.

Walt bought some crazy "performance" socks recently.

For me, it's more about composition and weight. If the sock is too heavy or too light my feet start to sweat and it's uncomfortable.

It's not the water that makes my feet wet, it's the 100 degree weather with 90% humidity that make my feet sweat. That's more of what i'm concerned of.

Can you ask Walt about his since I don't see him much on here? Nicole said that they were not to light or to heavy and they don't have a seam.

Technical Performance Motorcycle Socks, aka SOKz.
They give you extra support in the arch, shin and calf of your legs and feet. They help wick sweat as well. I've been using them for the last couple of years for track days. I also use a "PsycleSkin" undersuit with my leathers, made in Canada, available through www.sportbiketrackgear.com, again to wick sweat, keeps my leathers from smelling like a mog suit.

I just ware cotton crew socks under my work boots and riding boots. But under my hiking boots I ware Wigwam or Thorlo hiking socks at about $15 a pair. All the difference in the world for hiking so I bet a pair designed for riding would make a difference too!
