  • Layed the Bike down, Here's what I was Wearing......

I went around a turn at about 45mph and hit some gravel...layed her down and slid about 35 yards on the blacktop and then went into a hay field. I slide on my right leg, hands, and right forearm...my back and head never touched.

I was wearing an off-brand cheap leather jacket with Forcefield Body Armour, Scorpion 700 helmet, Cortech DX gloves, Levi blue jeans, and under-the-ankle leather shoes.

The jacket got wore down a little, the gloves were wore all the way through and my hands were bleeding, my pants were ripped a little but not too bad (my leg is bruised purple pretty bad though), and my shoe was wore down and ripped open.

Glad to hear you're basically ok. Imagine what you'd look like with no gear. Bikes can be fixed with time, effort, and money. The same can't always be said about our bodies. Chaulk it up to experience.
sigpicLife throws you curves......enjoy the ones you get when riding.

Glad to hear you didn't get hurt too bad. Your gloves took a hell of a beating, did you put your hands out as you slid?

Yeah, I did...the road chewed right through them.

It seems that way. i might have been putting more weight on my forearm/hands and shoes than my legs as i slid....or the leather might have been really cheap quality, the jacket was cheap.

Glad you were not seriously hurt... I've watched two friends lose it in front of me lay it down as well and be able to walk away... but it is never good... again, glad you walked away as well... TonyE.

Glad to hear you are ok... I think is important in situations like these to recognize the gear that did its job and the gear we should steer clear of. Looks like the gloves took a beating... Were they already in bad shape or did they just not hold up well?

Glad you were not hurt worse than you were.

Yet another testimonial then... gloves, jacket and a helmet are required even at non-highway speeds.

Much damage to your bike? Or just cometics?
