Riding in tennis shoes and jeans, how dangerous is it?
if you were to slide in jeans going 60 to a complete stop you prolly wouldnt have any skin left
Ride like there's no tomorrow!!! You never know when your going to run out of "tomorrows"!!!
Current Bikes:
1997 Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird
2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX14R Special Edition
I don't even want to think about slidding to a stop from 60 wearing shorts...
so buy a good pair of riding pants
pants $150, medical bills wearing shorts, +$5,000 at least. whats the better deal?

Having crash tested leathers at probably close to 70 and walking away with a bruise on my but and a little sore for a few days. All the gear is worth it, whatever the price. To top things off, all that gear is being repaired for $110, plus whatever I end up paying for toe sliders.

Just because they sound the same doesn't mean they are: there≠their≠they're; to≠too≠two; its≠it's; your≠you're; know≠no; brake≠break
I consider a helmet, boots, gloves, leather jacket to be minimal for riding. Question.... Is there any significant added protection afforded when wearing knee/shin guards under jeans? I have a neighbor that lost a lower leg below the knee from a mc accident a few years back. I would think that lower leg armor might have made a difference.
How on earth can a daily commuter to a cubicle job wear ATGATT? Wouldn't you need a locker room to dress out again once you got to work? I'm sorry if I sound tee totally reticent or even stupid, but seriously? Is that what daily drivers do?
I have riding pants that go on over my khakis. I have black boots that I wear and if someone doesn't like them because they aren't loafers, they can shove it. If I really needed my shiny shoes, I can carry them in a back pack. I have a cardboard box under my desk that holds all my gear when I get to work.
^ I can relate. Doctors always seem to say "well...why don't you have insurance?". I always say "Are you kidding? I'm a college student. I can barely afford rent. Oh, whats wrong with me, is it expensive?"
For your zip code, assuming you're a guy in pretty decent shape,
Anthem and Humana quoted rates at $30/mo.
It does have a pretty high deductible, but as I say, better to be in debt than dead.
My wife just went through Melanoma and we're in debt to the hospital about $2k, but setting up a payment with them was as easy as calling up and saying, I can pay you $180/mo, but that's it. They said ok, and I don't get charged interest or anything.
Health insurance, and hospitals aren't as evil or as expensive as some people would like you to believe.
Anyway, just thought I'd try to help you out a bit.
I also made this to help keep the jacket from riding up for those that like to ride in jeans.
I bouth Shift jeans that have Kevlar in the important areas and bought Nitro riding sneakers - they have ankle protection and are very comfortable. Probably sent $300 for both things and I love them.
Best part I know Im geared up but I can go to a movie, mall etc and blend in.
Anybody ever try Columbia sport wear for riding. I was using a drill with a wire wheel paint remover this last weekend and caught my pants (columbia) in that thing a dozen or so times and it never broke through and never scratched the skin at all. I was impressed and figured it would probably skiff over some pavement as well. Any thoughts?

That hairpin you see just west of the pushpin is impassable by anything larger than a cube van. It's a fun little stretch but on the weekends it's pretty busy between the bikes and Porches, etc.
